Drama productions are a strong element of the school and are well supported by the community. Recent productions include 'Wizard of Oz' which are open to all pupils. One parent spoke proudly of her son (who has cerebral palsy) who played an active part in the production. (IQM 2013)
Everyone at the college is committed to its success. People often go above and beyond, for example in supporting performances, sporting events, overseas trips and weekend and holiday revision sessions. (IIP 2014)
Creating the Right Environment
We strive to be a successful school and we recognise that every individual child must enjoy their education and be happy. Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Engineering College prides itself on offering a huge extra-curricular programme which runs throughout the day, at weekends and during the school holidays. These opportunities are vital to ensuring the development of the whole child, as they help to build key skills, for example, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity and most importantly, they forge friendships. Sporting activities, music, theatre and overseas trips are just a few of the ways in which children strive to give their best, grow in confidence and experience a new and exciting dimension to their education.
Our sports teams have celebrated huge success. In 2014, our Year 11 boys' football team won the West Lancashire Cup for two consecutive years! Last year, 3 of our teams won their leagues in Years 7, 8 and 9. Our U16 girls' football team went on to win the Lancashire Cup. In 2014, our Head Girl, Mayumi Gillum was chosen to play in the England Girls' Football Team and represented her country. Also, we have a number of boys who have gone on to play for football clubs.
Some examples of the types of activites that children are involved in are listed below. This is a small proportion of what is on offer. We do encourage children to let us know if there is any other provision that they would like to be involved in via form teachers or the Student Council.
