Our Chaplaincy Team

Our Chaplaincy Team is led by Fr Kenny Hyde from the Catholic Parish of St. Richard, Skelmersdale and Mr Baron, our School Chaplain, and is supported by staff, students, parents and governors. Our Catholic Ethos is at the heart of our school community and everything that we do at Our Lady Queen of Peace.

Gospel Values

Our Lady Queen of Peace is a special place and is a proud Catholic school, guided by Gospel values. We recognise every individual as being made ‘in God’s image and likeness’ and as such each person, regardless of their own faith perspective, is welcomed and valued for who they are. We believe in nurturing the whole person and seek to develop responsible, caring and committed young people, who will make a positive contribution to society and fulfil their potential.

Prayer & Liturgy

Prayer and Liturgy and the sacramental life of the Church is at the heart of our school community. The school provides students and staff with opportunities to live out the Gospel Values. Each school day begins with an opportunity for prayer and quiet reflection. Assemblies, Prayer & Liturgy, chapel assemblies, staff briefings and staff meetings all include an act of worship, reflection or a form of prayer that is led by students and/or staff.

Prayer and Liturgy reflects the liturgical seasons of the Church. We value our links with our local parishes and support our students in their celebration of the sacraments.

Religious Education

Religious Education is a core subject and is pivotal in the academic and personal development of all students as identified by the Catholic Schools Inspectorate.

‘Teaching in religious education is a shining light, and gives glory to the founding purpose and mission of the school’. (Section 48 Report, Oct 2023)

‘Religious literacy is at the core of each lesson, and students display a high level of confidence in understanding and applying religious terminology. These high standards transcend ability levels, with all students skilfully taught additional and complex terminologies’. (Section 48 Report, Oct 2023)

Charity Work

Every year students raise money for worthwhile causes, helping people in the local community and beyond. ‘The pupils instinctively rally to the needs of others in local, national, and international contexts’, (Section 48 Report, Oct 2023)
