Our School
Prayer & Liturgy is vital to the spiritual life of Our Lady Queen of Peace. We recognise its impact on the spiritual, moral and social development of our pupils and value it as a part of our distinctive ethos. Staff and students, under the guidance of the Chaplain and the Senior Leadership Team, actively take part in Prayer & Liturgy.
Prayer
Prayer, whether personal or communal, fosters our relationship with the God who loves us. Prayer has been traditionally described as ‘lifting up of the hearts and minds to God’. Members of the school community have many opportunities to develop this relationship throughout the year. The school community joins together in prayer every morning either in assembly, the form time reflection or daily worship.
Liturgy
Liturgy is the divine worship of the Church. The public acts of worship that take place in school include the celebration of Mass, the celebration of the Sacraments, and the Daily Prayer of the Church. Liturgy literally means “the work of the people” and is the communal prayer of the Church. When we gather as a community to pray, we bring our diverse gifts and unite our hearts and voices in praise of God.
Prayer & Liturgy Calendar
Each year, we have a Prayer & Liturgy Calendar. The theme for each week is usually based on the Sunday Gospel Reading or another Reading from Holy Scripture following the Liturgical Calendar. As part of the planning, thought is given to significant signs or symbols and to music. Please cleck on the tabs to look at the Prayer and Liturgy Calendar for each term.
